Leader Reflections: When do you declare a miracle?

In 2015, after a prolonged period of sickness, I was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease. An intense prescription was issued to help manage the symptoms. Not heal or cure. Just mitigate the number of ‘flare-ups’. It helped but it never worked like they thought it would. 💊

Nearly five years later, I prayerfully came to the conclusion there needed to be another plan. In my mind, heavy drugs for the next 40+ years didn’t seem like a good strategy.

In January 2020, I started the process of weening myself off of the intense medication. What happened next was completely unexpected. I stopped getting sick. Not a single day. To be clear, this isn’t a post about modern day medicine or opinions on how to take care of your body. I’m just processing my experience. I don’t know what happened.

Looking back, I do know 100s of people had been praying for healing. ❤️‍🩹 I know that God is more than able to heal but I don’t know that I ever expected it to happen to me. But now, it’s been four years. Over 1,400 days without a glimpse of the disease.

It has me wondering, when do you declare a miracle? Is it over for good? Each day without the sickness is a blessing and if it came back tomorrow, I’d be grateful for the relief I’ve been given.

God gets the glory whether it’s temporary or permanent but I think I’m ready to embrace the fact that a miracle has occurred.

Reflection Questions:

Have you seen God move in a mighty way but have been hesitant to give him full credit? (It doesn’t have to be a health matter. God’s miracles appear in all kinds of circumstances and situations. We know that they happen in the mountain top moments and the valleys.)

What has God done in your life or in your organization that should be shared with others?
